When I get to the top of the hill I let off the accelerator and I feel like the the tranny reset to normal operation. I park it. The muffler is real hot. Oil is good, water is good. I let it sit for 30 minutes... only the check engine light is on now.4010 Mule surging. I have a 2011 mule 4010 that surges at low RPM. it idles ok at start but if i slowly accelerate it gets really sticky and surges. if I floor it it runs great. I have changed out the injectors and cleaned the fuel pump screen. I suspect the Throttle sensors may be the real issue but I dont have the special connector to test this.I have a JD RX75 with a 9HP Kawasaki engine. It starts easily and runs okay except the engine surges at all throttle positions when there is no load. If I start driving up hill or engage the mower deck the engine runs smooth. If it only runs with the choke 3/4 closed then it is not getting enough fuel. The carb might need to be cleaned. The fuel cap might need to be cleaned if it vents through the cap. If it has a charcoal filter tank vent then that needs to be taken off to ensure it is not the problem.I have a 2014 John Deere with a 25.5hp Kawasaki engine and had a similar issue with it losing power and backfiring randomly. I first focused on the ignition system (new plugs, new coils, even a new battery). When that didn't fix it, I focused on the fuel system (new filter, new gas, new fuel pump, rebuilt the carb).
