I have heard that the FAL is "the right arm of the free world", so a lot of militaries must use it today. That phrase goes back to Cold War times. The FAL was widely used by "western" nations, while the "eastern" nations (Soviet Union, China, & their clients) used the AK-47. The U.S. was the exception in the West, never using the FAL.. Just picked up an FAL with two DSA polymer mags and one Moses mag. Had to file the back of one of the DSA's and the Moses. I'm finding that the top round of both of these mags are getting dented and gouged just from racking a round into the chamber. Somebody long ago on the Blue Board calculated that there were about 250 individual machining steps to make one receiver. ( I don't remember the exact number but it was close to the 250 I stated). The sear cut Steyrs, so long as they're in factory semi-auto configuration are accepted as legal, just not identified by SN (there are roughly 2000 of them) as I understand it. #2.
